Stahmanns Pecans, a family owned business, is known as one of the largest growers and pecan distributors in the world. Using state-of-the-art equipment and modern farming techniques, Stahmanns has been producing the highest quality bulk pecans for over 90 years. They are also establishing a pistachio farm, with 500 acres already planted. As passionate pecan and pistachio growers, Stahmanns understands the importance of quality and food safety through the use of its mindful holistic management program that begins from the ground up.
What You Will Do

The Junior Farm Manager will help run operations at Hidalgo Pecan, a pecan and pistachio farm near Lordsburg, NM. You'll report directly to our Farm Operations Manager and will oversee supervisors, team leaders, and day-to-day farm activities.
Responsibilities

• Leading machinery operators and labor teams with a positive, can-do attitude.
• Planning and applying fertilizers.
• Working with our scouting team to prevent and manage pests and disease.
• Scheduling and completing weed control tasks.
• Overseeing pecan and pistachio harvests.
• Training employees on all their responsibilities and tasks.
• Supervising maintenance teams to keep equipment in tip-top shape.
• Taking detailed notes on work progress and using farm management software to stay organized.
• Collecting data, writing reports, and keeping the Farm Operations Manager and ownership in the loop.

You are passionate about sustainable agriculture and innovative farming practices, and want to help shape the future of one of the largest pecan and pistachio farms in the Southwest. Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills are essential.
Qualifications

• A solid understanding of disease and pest management.
• Knowledge of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
• Familiarity with farm equipment and machinery.
• Practical experience with farm activities and operations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience with Excel and other computer programs.
• Fluency in Spanish (a must).
